The Product: Shibori gathered silk lampshades in indigo
These eye-catching yet delicate, gathered-silk lampshades add textural softness to any living space. Each unique, fabric length is hand-dyed by artisans in India using an ancient, Japanese, tie-dye technique. The finished lampshades are imbued with the Japanese decorative aesthetic.
Sustainability and education are at the heart of our shade makers, Samarkand Design, which focuses on improving the lives of each of the artisans they work with and building lasting and positive relationships with suppliers based on the principles of fairness and social responsibility.
Elegant, tapered shades in larger sizes work well with slim-necked lamp bases such as ceramic, oriental urns or bottle silhouettes. The smaller sizes team perfectly with simple, candlestick lamp bases. Either way, keep the lamp base simple and unfussy. Allow the decorative pattern to – quite literally- shine!
Try Oka for metal or ceramic lamp bases with a classic silhouette to team with this Japanese Shibori lampshade.
